Just to inform everyone: we are currently working on a brand new design for our website. All we can say for now is that the new design is expected to be completed by around March this year.

The month of January has caused a lot of excitement in the SEO world because Google has once again updated the visible Google PageRank (that can be seen on the Google toolbar and by using other SEO tools).

According to many SEO experts, Google is making it increasingly more difficult for websites to get a higher PageRank. The majority of websites on the internet have experienced a drop in their Google PageRank; so if you still have the same PageRank as before consider that a big achievement. If your websites PageRank has actually increased then consider that an even better accomplishment.

Of course PageRank is not the most important aspect of a website for good search engine results. Most websites in the SEO community simply use the PageRank of a website to determine whether it would be a good website to buy a text link on or not. However because of the sometimes inaccuracy of the (visible) Google PageRank it is essential that when buying text links you keep in mind the following factors other than PageRank:

• What is the age of the domain and the website?
• Does the website have unique content?
• Is the website regularly updated?
• Has the website got too many outgoing links?
• Has the website has got anything to do with “bad neighbourhood” websites (adult, gambling, illegal, etc)?
• Does the website link to any o f these “bad neighbourhood” websites?
• Is the website related to your website?
• If you buy a text link on the website will it be a SEO friendly link?
• Are the text links SEO friendly?
